Mary Koshollek

Mary Koshollek’s current title at Godfrey & Kahn SC is Director of Information and Records Services.

It’s a position that didn’t exist just a few years ago. But she chalks it up to the dynamic nature of law librarianship. That’s what initially attracted her to the field and has kept her there for almost 30 years, since she considers herself a “lifelong learner.”

After earning her master’s in library science in 1981, Koshollek joined von Briesen & Roper sc in Milwaukee. She quickly realized that the marriage of library and law was perfect for her skills — she’s always enjoyed solving a challenging puzzle.

She earned her J.D. in 1993 and returned to law librarianship in private practice, but also added teaching legal research as an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School, her alma mater. She came to Godfrey & Kahn in 1999.

There have been too many interesting, important cases where the legal research made all the difference, for her to designate any one of them as a career highlight. She’s been active in the Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin throughout her career, serving on its board for many years and as president. And in 2002, she was previously honored by the Wisconsin Law Journal as an outstanding “Woman in the Law.”
