Cindy L. Fryda doesn’t like being called a “management-side” labor and employment attorney.

For starters, Fryda, of The Schroeder Group SC in Waukesha, represents both employees and employers, and she concentrates in general small business law as well.

But also: “The way I look at it, being management-oriented is a benefit to employees. Because the better the advice I can give employers, the better employers they’ll be, the longer they’ll be in business, and the longer they’ll employ people. So I think it’s pro-employee and pro-business.”

Following the same logic, Fryda serves as a volunteer member of the board of the Save on Health Care Business Alliance of Waukesha County. That’s in addition to her work as a member of the Marketing Committee of the Women’s Center of Waukesha.

Fryda’s last day at the Schroeder Group was Aug. 17. She has recently joined Kohl’s as in-house counsel.

If you hadn’t become a lawyer, what would you have done?

I would’ve been a professor.

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive?

I don’t really care, as long as it’s not, “Uh, Hell’s that way.”

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would live more in the moment, rather than examining the past and preparing for the future.

What is your favorite website and why?

Pandora Radio. It pulls up songs I wouldn’t otherwise think to play.

What is the first concert you went to?

Milli Vanilli. I’d like my money back.

Where would you like to live?

Italy. I would eat all day long.

What do you miss most about your childhood?

Eating cereal on the floor in the living room watching Saturday morning cartoons without a care in the world.

What is your favorite pet?

Dogs — specifically, my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

What would you never wear?

Stirrup pants — yes, they’re back.

Where and when are you happiest?

On a sunny Saturday afternoon on a long run or a bike ride with my family.
