Attorney Deanne M. Koll likes a good challenge.

In one of her first jury trials, the 2006 law school graduate successfully represented a woman who had been confined against her will at a mental institution, known as ‘Chapter 51.’

“During the trial she was dabbing holy water on herself and when she was not found to be a danger to herself, she stood up and raised her arms to the sky,” said Koll, of Bakke Norman SC, in Menomonie.

“It was pretty memorable.”

So was the experience of shooting her first turkey this year. Koll, 28, has been an avid deer hunter since she was 12 and relishes the time she can spend with her father each season.

“As a present, he sent me a hot pink Browning pocket knife addressed to the ‘Princess of the Forest,’” she said.
