New partner joins Quarles & Brady
Quarles & Brady announced in December that Linda Emery joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Milwaukee office.
Emery, who earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986, focuses her practice in the areas such as data privacy and security, information technology and trademarks. Before working in private practice, Emery was in-house counsel for two large corporations.
DeWitt adds associate to Madison office
DeWitt Ross & Stevens recently announced that Nicole Williams Buttery joined its Madison office as an associate attorney in the firm’s family law group.
Buttery, who earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2014, handles guardianships and represents clients in divorces and third-party visitation cases.
Quarles & Brady partner receives leadership award
Quarles & Brady recently announced that Isaac Roang received the Next Generation United Performing Arts Fund Leadership Award.
The award is sponsored by the We Energies Foundation and recognizes a community leader in the Next Generation United Performing Arts Fund who encourages and promotes the performing arts in southeastern Wisconsin.
Roang is a co-chair of the 2017 Next Generation United Performing Arts Fund Council. He is also a partner at Quarles & Brady’s Milwaukee office, where he is a member of the firm’s real estate practice group and represents clients in real estate transactions. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2007.
Attorney joins Wauwatosa firm
Probst Law Offices in Wauwatosa recently hired a new associate.
Ryan Ogren, who earned his law degree at the University of St. Thomas Law School in 2014, joined the firm as an associate. His practice focuses on family law, juvenile law and adoptions.

DeWitt promotes two attorneys to partner
DeWitt Ross & Stevens recently announced that Olivia Kelley and Craig Stevenson have been named partner.
Kelley, who works out of DeWitt’s metro-Milwaukee office, practices business, real estate and tax law. She also helps clients preserve, produce and acquire electronic information during litigation. Kelley earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2009.
Stevenson, who works out of the firm’s Madison office, represents creditors and debtors in bankruptcies, foreclosures, receiverships and business litigation. He earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2006.
Associate joins Murphy Desmond
Murphy Desmond has added a new associate.
Jonathan Esp joined the firm as an associate litigation attorney in the firm’s Madison office.
Esp, who earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2013, handles all aspects of civil litigation in Wisconsin state and federal courts, and at trial and appellate court levels.
Quarles hires Milwaukee employee-benefits attorney
Quarles & Brady has announced that Michael Wieber joined the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, Employee Benefits team, as of counsel in its Milwaukee office.
Wieber’s practice focuses on tax and fiduciary aspects of 401(k) plans, pension plans, employee stock ownership plans, executive deferred compensation arrangements and flexible spending plans. He has experience in Employee Retirement Income Security Act fiduciary law, including investment advisory and management services, and in mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining Quarles, Wieber spent 19 years at BMO Financial Group. Before that, he worked as an associate at Foley & Lardner, focusing on ERISA and employee benefits law.
Wieber earned his law degree from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law on 1994.
