Milwaukee-based Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown has been ranked as one of the Best Law Firms in America by U.S. News Media Group.

The firm was recognized for several of its practice areas, which were broken down into tiers based on client, lawyer and peer evaluations. GRGB took the top tier in white collar criminal defense and land use and zoning litigation, second tier in appellate practice civil rights law, commercial litigation, health care law and third tier in family law, real estate litigation and personal injury litigation.

Animal Legal Defense Fund recognizes Milwaukee firm

A Milwaukee firm recently received an award from the Animal Legal Defense fund for its pro bono work.

Laffey, Leitner & Goode was awarded the Animal Legal Defense Fund 2017 Advancement in Animal Law Pro Bono Achievement Award for the firm’s work, which included a lawsuit that sought to strike a Wisconsin statute that bans videotaping and photographing hunters.

The firm also did legal work to help the Animal Legal Defense Fund obtain public records related to research experiments on baby monkeys done at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Labor, employment firm gets top ranking

Ogletree Deakins has been named a Law Firm of the Year for the seventh year in row by U.S. News Media Group.

The firm was named Best Law Firm of the Year in labor and employment law. Only one law firm in each practice area receives that designation.

The firm was also recognized for several of its practice areas, with its Milwaukee office ranking in the first tier for management and litigation and labor and employment. Nationally, the firm earned a first tier designation in six categories, including employee benefits law, construction law and ERISA litigation.

Pines Bach hires new partner

Madison-based Pines Bach recently hired a new attorney.

The firm added Juscha Robinson as a partner in the firm’s real estate, business law and  estate planning and administration practices. She has been practicing in those areas since 2006.

Before joining Pines Bach, Robinson, a University of Michigan Law School graduate, was a partner at Herrick & Kasdorf for 11 years. Before going into private practice, she was an associate director at the Tenant Resource Center and the AIDS Network.

She has been licensed to practice in Wisconsin since 2003.
