MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin appeals court has upheld a ruling dismissing a lawsuit brought by former Crivitz High School girls basketball players who were accused of cyber bullying a teammate.
The 3rd District Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld the Oconto County circuit court’s order from 2016 dismissing the lawsuit.
Three basketball players from Crivitz were kicked off the team in February 2014 after one of them took pictures of a teammate getting dressed before a game.
The girls sued, arguing in part that the school district and parents of the girl who was photographed were intentionally causing emotional distress to the players who were suspended.
The lower court judge dismissed six claims brought by the girls, and the appeals court on Tuesday agreed.
Crivitz is about 50 miles north of Green Bay.
