Gov. Scott Walker had tapped a long-time federal prosecutor to take the place of a retiring Milwaukee County judge.

Walker on Friday announced he has selected Joseph Wall to replace Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Dennis Moroney, who is retiring.

Wall has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Wisconsin for more than 24 years. During that time, he worked in the financial crimes unit, the organized-crime drug-enforcement task force, and the human-trafficking task force.

Wall, who is also a certified public accountant, was a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge from 2001 to 2007.

The Wauwatosa resident earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1984.
