MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a wrong-way crash that injured three people, including a young girl who is paralyzed from the waist down.

Thirty-seven-year-old Chase Biami pleaded no contest in December to three counts of injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and three counts of second degree reckless injury related to the crash.

The crash happened last June when Biami was driving the wrong way on Interstate 43 about 4:30 in the morning. Biami told police he had two double shots of tequila before getting behind the wheel and last remembered being on Fond du Lac Avenue.

The crash severely injured Katie Mathews, her daughter Elizabeth and a family friend. Katie Mathews says she believes Biami deserved a life sentence.
