Incumbent, disability-rights advocate advance for spot on Milwaukee municipal court

An incumbent Milwaukee municipal court judge will face off against a disability-rights advocate in April’s election.

Judge Valarie Hill fended off challenges from three other candidates in Tuesday’s primary, taking nearly 47 percent of the vote, or 13,084 votes, according to a preliminary count. William Crowley of Disability Rights Wisconsin took 19.2 percent of the vote, or 5,356 votes. The two will advance to the April 4 election.

Assistant City Attorney Kail Decker took 4,343 votes, or about 15.6 percent of the vote. Brian Michel, a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee, took 4,880 votes or 17.5 percent of the vote.
