A Massachusetts attorney who was publicly reprimanded in Maine could face discipline in Wisconsin.

According to an Office of Lawyer Regulation complaint filed Dec. 1, Carl Buzawa was publicly reprimanded in September for failing to file an affidavit certifying that he had disclosed to all the required courts and parties that his license had been suspended for failing to complete the annual requirements for keeping an active law license in Maine. He also failed to respond to the Maine regulators who were investigating the matter, according to the complaint.

The discipline stemmed from a grievance filed in November 2015. Following an investigation, Maine’s Board of Overseers of the Bar filed a complaint in June last year.

Buzawa, who has been licensed in Maine since 1986, failed to answer the complaint and did not appear at a September hearing.

A panel of Maine’s Grievance Commission subsequently found that he had broken the state’s rules of professional conduct.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation is asking the Wisconsin Supreme Court to impose reciprocal discipline on Buzawa for the misconduct.

Buzawa could not be reached Wednesday, either at the number listed by the Maine Board of Bar Overseers’ attorney directory or the one listed by the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Buzawa, a graduate of Harvard University, has been licensed in Wisconsin since 1976. According to the complaint, his license has been administratively suspended since October 2013 for failure to pay bar dues and submit a trust-account certification. His New Hampshire license has also been suspended, for the same reasons, since November 2014.

According to Buzawa’s LinkedIn profile, he is an aerospace business consultant in the Boston area.
