GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (AP) — Hundreds of shoppers at a mall in eastern Wisconsin were evacuated after police got a call reporting that an armed man could possibly be in the building.
Grand Chute police officers searched the Fox River Mall late Tuesday, but did not find the man.
An evacuation order was played over the mall’s loud speaker around 6 p.m., after police got a call from a person who said a family member was possibly in the mall, was armed and was making threats.
Authorities say the man they are looking for has a history of mental-health troubles and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Capt. Mike Velie tells WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/2i5ucui ) that police locked down the mall and searched for the man, but couldn’t find him. No one was injured. Police say it took about two hours to get hundreds of shoppers out of the mall.
