The Wisconsin Supreme Court has reinstated the license of a Green Bay attorney who had been suspended over 20 counts of misconduct relating to seven clients.

This was Jevon Jaconi’s second attempt at reinstatement.

Jaconi’s license had been suspended for a year in 2003 for misconduct involving several criminal cases and a divorce case. According to the high court’s decision from that year, Jaconi repeatedly ignored clients, failed to refund client money and failed to explain proceedings to his clients.

Jaconi petitioned the high court to reinstate his license in 2013. However, the justices denied the petition in October 2014 because he had not disclosed that he had not yet paid all the restitution he owed to former clients and the Wisconsin Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection.

Jaconi petitioned the court again in December, and a hearing was held in July in Milwaukee. At the hearing, Jaconi testified that if his license were reinstated, he planned to continue working at ICS Cutting Tools Inc., a tool manufacturer in Casco, and to work part-time practicing law in Green Bay under the supervision of an attorney.

A referee in August recommended that the justices reinstate Jaconi’s license, and the justices agreed Friday.

However, they noted in their decision that Jaconi’s license will remain suspended administratively until he pays his State Bar dues.

They also ordered him to pay $2,830.32, which is the cost of the reinstatement proceeding.

In addition to the 2003 suspension, Jaconi was publicly reprimanded in 2005 for not clearly explaining the fees he charges for his services.

Jaconi graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1998 and was admitted to practice law in Wisconsin the same year.
