MILWAUKEE (AP) — A man who started a house fire that killed two children taunted survivors of the blaze in a Milwaukee County courtroom as he was sentenced to 71 years in prison.
Twenty-seven-year-old Michael Morgan claimed he was at a friend’s house the night of the fire and had nothing to do with it. Morgan threatened a relative in court Thursday as the cousin prepared to make a statement causing a disturbance and a delay in sentencing.
The mother of Morgan’s estranged wife was watching all five of her daughter’s children and a niece the night of Oct. 20, 2015. After the fire broke out, the grandmother rescued four of the children. Ten-year-old Kevin Little and 2-year-old Taenajah Morgan were killed.
The Journal Sentinel says Morgan taunted family members and sang and smiled as he was led out of court.
