WEST BEND, Wis. (AP) — A Menomonee Falls man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist last year.
Thirty-two-year-old Adam Neuhaus was sentenced Monday in the death of 50-year-old Keith Habenicht.
WISN-TV reports Neuhaus sobbed in court and said “words cannot express the remorse and sorrow” he feels.
Neuhaus pleaded guilty in July. He will serve another five years on supervised release.
Habenicht was riding his bike home from a store on Aug. 23 when he was hit in Germantown. Authorities said Neuhaus did not stop to help, and witnesses said he had been drinking at a bar before the crash.
Neuhaus was arrested but later released because police weren’t able to pinpoint who was driving the car. He was charged in March.
