MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former Madison police officer will be on probation for two years for stealing government property.
U.S. District Judge James Peterson sentenced 31-year-old Andrew Pullum on Friday.
Pullum was accused of stealing nearly $4,000 during a sting operation. He pleaded guilty in May.
The FBI planted the cash in a duffel bag in a car trunk last December as they investigated Pullum following a citizen’s tip to Madison police. FBI agents arrested Pullum at a Madison police station the following day.
Federal authorities say most of the money was recovered at Pullum’s home following his arrest.
Pullum resigned from the police department in January.
