Madison attorney to go full geek at Comic-Con

A Madison attorney will be on two panels at an international pop culture convention.

Jessica Mederson, an attorney at the litigation firm Hansen Reynolds Dickinson Crueger’s Madison office, will be on both of the only two panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego to involve legal matters. The convention started Wednesday and runs through July 24.

The panels, scheduled for Thursday, involve legal issues presented in Star Trek and the television series Supergirl. Mederson’s fellow panel members include a California Supreme Court justice and the deputy general counsel of litigation for Facebook.

Mederson said Wednesday she is looking forward to participating.

“The reception is so positive,” she said. “The people who attend are really into it, and the other panelists have great insight.”

Mederson found her way onto the panel through her role in blogging for and managing Legal Geeks, an organization she helped found. Legal Geeks explores legal questions raised by movies, television shows and other products of popular culture. She was also a panelist at last year’s Comic-Con.

Mederson said she appreciates that her firm has been so supportive of her work on the blog.

“They have been fantastic,” she said. “They’ve watched the videos and podcasts.” Follow @erikastrebel
