MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state’s professional licensing board is investigating the conduct of a Milwaukee neurosurgeon who is facing her third drunken driving charge.

A criminal complaint says the blood alcohol content for Dr. Melissa Macias was more than twice the legal limit when she was pulled over in Brookfield in March. Macias is facing up to a year in jail if convicted.

WISN-TV reports the Department of Safety and Professional Services has opened an investigation into Macias. She is free on bond and continues to see patients.

Records show she is in court-ordered treatment. Macias’ attorney says he’s working on a plea deal that would require her to continue with treatment.
