MILWAUKEE (AP) — A former Milwaukee Public Schools teacher’s aide has pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse for pushing a student to the floor in an incident caught on video.

Thirty-nine-year-old Jasmine Pennix of Milwaukee waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. The court found probable cause and bound Pennix over for trial.

The incident happened April 20 at Bay View High School. The complaint says Pennix pushed the 14-year-old boy to the floor and held him there by the neck. It says he was taken to a hospital with injuries to his neck, hips and back.

Pennix was fired after the incident. WITI-TV reports he is due back in court June 3.
