OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — A jury has convicted a 31-year-old Oshkosh man of killing his girlfriend last year.
The jury convicted Samson Gomoll of first-degree intentional homicide on Tuesday in Winnebago County Circuit Court.
Gomoll was accused in the Sept. 20 fatal shooting of 42-year-old Stacey Strange at the couple’s apartment.
The trial began Monday, with jurors hearing closing arguments Tuesday morning. Jurors deliberated for only 80 minutes before finding Gomoll guilty.
Prosecutors argued the shooting was a “straight-up, cold-blooded murder. The defense said it was self-defense because Gomoll was afraid Strange was going to kill him.
Oshkosh Northwestern Media reports Gomoll faces a maximum sentence of life in prison when he is sentenced July 22.
