Focus: Termination of Parental Rights

Andy appeals from a trial court order terminating his parental rights to Catie and from an order denying his “Postremand Motion” (hereinafter, “postdisposition motion”). He argues that: (1) his stipulation/admission that Catie remained a child in need of protection or services was not knowing, intelligent, and voluntary; (2) that he received ineffective assistance of counsel; (3) that it is against public policy for a trial court to allow a foster parent to testify that he or she intends to allow an open adoption if parental rights are terminated; and (4) that he is entitled to a new trial in the interests of justice. For the reasons that follow, we affirm.
