GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A police officer in Ashwaubenon could return to the streets as early as next week after he was cleared in a deadly shooting.

Officer Brian Murphy shot and killed Dustin Kuik, of Two Rivers, in a Lambeau Field area hotel parking lot last September. Police say Kuik refused to put down his weapon and started to enter the hotel. Officers were pursuing Kuik for an armed robbery in Mishicot a few days earlier.

WLUK-TV reports Brown County District Attorney Dave Lasee determined Murphy acted lawfully in use of deadly force after reviewing an investigation by the state Department of Justice.
