Attorney General Brad Schimel has appointed an attorney from a private law firm to be the solicitor general’s chief deputy.
Schimel, according to a news release on Monday, has tapped Ryan Walsh, a Danbury native, to fill the spot. Walsh is an associate at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. Before joining Jones Day in 2014, he was a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Walsh earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 2012. He has served as a clerk for judges at both the federal district court level and the federal appeals courts.
Walsh will start the job in mid-April, according to the release.
He is the second attorney Schimel has appointed. Solicitor General Misha Tseytlin, who will be Walsh’s boss, was a clerk for Justice Anthony Kennedy.
