FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin man who authorities say hid his late brother’s body in a plastic barrel for months has been found guilty of negligently subjecting an individual at risk to abuse causing death.

Robert Diamentis of Ripon pleaded no contest Thursday in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court. A judge dismissed additional charges of hiding a corpse, obstructing an officer and failing to report a death in unusual circumstances in exchange for his plea.

The Reporter Media says the body of his brother, Richard Diamentis, was discovered May 2 in the barrel at their Ripon home. According to a criminal complaint, Robert Diamentis hid the corpse for months because he didn’t want people to think he had neglected his bedridden brother.

An exam found him competent to stand trial.
