MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear oral arguments next week in a former state Justice Department investigator’s whistleblower case.

An administrative law judge ruled in 2011 that the DOJ violated the state’s whistleblower laws when it demoted Joell Schigur from her position as Public Integrity Bureau director in 2008. DOJ officials made the move a month after Schigur warned them that assigning agents to protect then-Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen at the national GOP convention might amount to using state resources for a political activity.

A Madison judge, however, reversed that finding, saying Schigur didn’t divulge any actual information, a prerequisite for whistleblower protection. A state appeals court upheld that decision earlier this year.

The high court is set to hear the case on Monday afternoon at the state Capitol.
