An Oxford man has pleaded guilty to theft of government funds.

Andrew Okey, 36, was sentenced to three years of probation by U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Crocker, according to a news release.

From March 2010 to January 2013, Okey, according to the release, who lived in Wautoma, was reimbursed for mileage for 189 trips to the VA Medical Center in Tomah.

Okey allegedly started using a false address in Winchester in July 2011, increasing the amount he was reimbursed. From that time until January 2013, Okey collected about $8,500 in reimbursements, which he was ordered to pay in restitution as part of his sentence.
