STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — The trial for a 56-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man accused of killing his wife in 1984 has been delayed.

The Stevens Point Journal Media reports that Joseph Reinwand was scheduled for trial in October, but a Portage County judge postponed it Friday after Reinwand’s attorney asked for more time to go through evidence.

Court documents accuse Reinwand of killing 19-year-old Pamela Reinwand because he was angry that she ordered an expensive meal. He told investigators that she shot herself with a pistol.

Reinwand is serving life in prison for the shooting death of his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, Dale Meister. His wife’s case, which was originally ruled a suicide, was reopened after police discovered new evidence while investigating Meister’s death.

The attorneys and the judge plan to meet to decide new trial dates.
