MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to four months in jail in the accidental shooting of a worker at a Madison blood center earlier this year.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports Aquan Bell of Madison was sentenced Thursday. He had pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by someone previously adjudicated as delinquent and causing injury by negligent use of a firearm.
Authorities say Bell was in a bathroom at Interstate Blood and Plasma in February and checked the safety on a gun, but it went off. A bullet went through a wall, hitting a worker in the ankle.
Dane County Circuit Judge William Hanrahan read a statement from the worker, and he said she was affected emotionally by the shooting.
