The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed a replacement for outgoing Milwaukee County Chief Judge Jeffrey Kremers.

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Maxine White will serve a two-year term starting Aug. 1, the high court announced Friday in a release. Kremers will continue to serve on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court bench.

White presides over the Milwaukee County Circuit Court’s Family Division and has been assigned to circuit court branches that handle criminal cases and large civil claims. She has served as deputy chief judge for Milwaukee since 2008. White was first appointed to the bench in 1992 and has been elected four times since.

She joins nine other chief judges on the Committee of Chief Judges. They manage the flow of cases, supervise personnel, develop budgets and meet monthly as a committee to work on issues of statewide importance, according to the release.
