Walker appoints judges in St. Croix, Sauk counties

Gov. Scott Walker has appointed judges in St. Croix and Sauk counties.

Walker on Friday appointed Michael Waterman to replace St. Croix County Circuit Court Judge Howard Cameron, according to a news release. Cameron resigned March 4. Waterman is a shareholder with Mudge Porter Lendeen & Seguin SC, Hudson, where he has practiced since 1995. At Mudge Porter Lendeen & Seguin, Waterman practices insurance defense, real estate law, and general litigation and appeals. He is also an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn.

Waterman earned his law degree from the Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minn. He and his wife, Deborah, live in New Richmond.

Walker also on Friday appointed Michael Screnock to replace Judge Patrick Taggart on the Sauk County Circuit Court, according to a release. Screnock works at Madison office of Michael Best & Friedrich, where he handles real estate and land use disputes, environmental law and regulatory matters. Before working for Michael Best & Friedrich, he worked in municipal government roles in Ashland and Washburn.

Screnock earned his law degree from the the University of Wisconsin Law School and has an MBA from Eastern College in Pennsylvania. Screnock lives with his family in Marshall.
