ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) — A Whitewater man has been convicted on all 12 counts against him in an attack that left two young girls with life-threatening injuries.

A jury in Walworth County deliberated about 7-½ hours before returning guilty verdicts for Larry Shannon about 11 p.m. Thursday. The Janesville Gazette reports the 42-year-old man was convicted of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, false imprisonment and sexual assault of a child, among other counts.

Prosecutors say Shannon cut the throats of the girls, ages 12 and 10, and left them tied to chairs after he had sexually assaulted the older child in October of 2012. He was also accused of choking his now ex-wife and tying her to a chair. Then he led police on a chase with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour that ended in Beloit.
