Happ, Schimel nearly even in attorney general race

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new poll shows Democrat Susan Happ and Republican Brad Schimel are about even in the race for attorney general.

The Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday shows Happ with 39 percent among registered voters, compared with 38 percent for Schimel. Last month, Happ had a 7-point lead over Schimel among registered voters.

In August, 24 percent of respondents were undecided or didn’t know who they would vote for. This month that was down to 20 percent

The poll of 800 registered voters was done between Sept. 11 and Sunday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Among likely voters, Schimel had 42 percent support compared with 41 percent for Happ with a 4.1 percentage point margin of error.
