The Wisconsin Supreme Court publicly reprimanded two out-of-state attorneys Wednesday for discipline they received from other courts.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jerry Albert of Tucson, Ariz., was reprimanded by the Arizona bar for not properly notifying the court before asking a question during a trial in December 2012 that inappropriately referenced a hearing in a withdrawn guilty plea. The judge declared a mistrial and the charge was later dropped.

Albert sent a letter to the Wisconsin Office of Lawyer Regulation that said he did not object to reciprocal discipline, according to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision.

Albert graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1971. His Wisconsin law license is suspended for not paying dues.

In an unrelated case, the court also publicly reprimanded Duluth, Minn., attorney Brian Fischer, who the Minnesota Supreme Court disciplined for mishandling several lawsuits dating to 2006.

Many of the actions Fischer was disciplined for stemmed from when he worked with attorney Louis Stockman. Stockman also faces discipline, though that case is pending.

According to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision, Fischer did not fight the reciprocal discipline.

Fischer graduated from Hamline University Law School in 2002.
