An animal rendering company in the town of Medina will pay $27,500 in forfeitures and penalties for environmental violations, according to a news release from the state attorney general’s office.

According to a complaint, Bailey Farms LLC, which turns dead animals and animal byproducts into a long list of ingredients, failed to submit required reports, discharged wastewater pollutants without a permit and applied too much nitrogen and chlorides to a site approved for spreading pollutants.

Per the terms of the judgment, which was signed Aug. 6 by Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas, Bailey Farms also has to alter its operations to bring its facility into full compliance with state environmental laws.
