RICE LAKE, Wis. (AP) — Court records say a Rice Lake man told police he robbed a local bank to get money to pay court obligations so he wouldn’t go to jail.

The 19-year-old man was arrested last week after he was seen running from the Sterling Bank in Rice Lake. Police say he had a bag of money and a handgun.

Investigators say the man also told them and two others robbed two convenience stores in Eau Claire on July 2, including the Holiday gas station and Mega Holiday.

The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram says no charges have been filed against the teen at this point.
