CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) — A 69-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed his wife and another woman and injured seven others in Chippewa County.

The Chippewa Herald reports Gerald D. Larson was sentenced Friday for the September 2012 crash in Eagle Point that killed Lori Kay Barger and his wife, Karen.

Larson had a blood alcohol level of 0.129, well above Wisconsin’s 0.08 standard for intoxication.

Judge James Isaacson disregarded a plea agreement that called for Larson to get two years jail time. Instead, he sentenced Larson to two years in prison and four years on extended supervision.

Defense attorney Michael Rajek said Larson was deeply remorseful. Rajek said he believed that Larson’s cataracts were a contributing factor.
