The state’s Building Commission approved two projects Wednesday meant to provide shelter to victims of domestic violence.
The commission agreed to have $10.63 million go to the construction of a Family Justice Center in Milwaukee. The center will provide a shelter for victims of domestic violence and combine services now found at three separate locations. The project is being undertaken by the Sojourner Family Peace Center and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
The commission also approved $560,000 for a shelter that Domestic Abuse Intervention Services will operate in Dane County. The shelter will replace one that DAIS now has at an undisclosed location.
