State Supreme Court won’t review release revocation

ONALASKA, Wis. (AP) – The Wisconsin Supreme Court has declined to review a decision that sent a man who killed a priest and two others in La Crosse County back to a mental health facility.

An attorney for Bryan Stanley asked the high court to consider a judge’s decision to revoke Stanley’s release in 2009. Stanley spent two decades at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison.

The La Crosse Tribune says a judge ordered Stanley to return to the institute in 2012 after ruling he violated conditions of his release by failing to report that he was having violent and disturbing thoughts.

PICKED UP 5 NEW CASES

Stanley was found not guilty by reason of mental disease in the fatal shooting of lay minister Ferdinand Roth, Rev. John Rossiter and custodian William Hammes at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska in 1985.
