An attorney disciplined in Michigan for using client money to pay for unrelated expenses was suspended Wednesday for 179 days in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that attorney John Doyle should be disciplined in the same way he was disciplined in Michigan. Doyle, who is suspended in Wisconsin for not paying dues and failing to report continuing education credits, stipulated to all the misconduct charges brought against him, according to the opinion, filed Wednesday.

The opinion states that Doyle, who graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1992, used money from his client account “to avoid a levy or garnishment of the funds by the federal government and the state of Michigan.”

The court did not recommend imposing any fines for Doyle’s case.

Doyle did not return a message left at his office Wednesday morning.
