Two Madison attorneys have accepted nominations to run for president-elect of the State Bar next year.

Ralph Cagle of Hurley, Burish & Stanton SC and Kevin Palmersheim of Haley Palmersheim SC both were approved by the bar’s nominating committee, according to a news release. The president-elect will take office July 1, and will become the bar’s president July 1, 2015.

The nominating committee also selected Green Bay attorney Sherry Coley of Godfrey & Kahn SC and Madison attorney Matthew Duchemin of Quarles & Brady LLP to run for the board’s secretary spot. Coley serves as the Board of Governor’s chairwoman. Her term expires June 30.

The committee also nominated Milwaukee attorney Catherine LaFluer and Madison attorney Laura Skilton Verhoff to serve on the Wisconsin Judicial Council.

State Bar elections are held in April. Those interested in running for office have until Feb. 1 to file a petition with 100 signatures from active bar members.

Those interested in running to be on the Board of Governors have until March 3 to file their petition, which must include at least 10 signatures from bar members.
