Adam Bardosy is many things, including a Tom Petty fan, a basketball superstar (in his son’s eyes) and most recently, a victor at the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

In Bardosy’s first high court appearance, he this year argued on behalf of Paul Davis Restoration of S.E. Wisconsin Inc. in its dispute against Paul Davis Restoration of Northeast Wisconsin.

“It was just a name game,” he said. “A shell game, where a company operated under a trade name and tried to hide behind that trade name.”

State justices reversed the appellate decision and ordered the Northeast Wisconsin franchise of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Paul Davis Restoration Inc. to pay more than $100,000 in fees and penalties to the S.E. Wisconsin branch.

The outcome meant Bardosy’s client finally could collect after waiting more than three years.

It also meant that after eight years at Mallery & Zimmerman SC, Bardosy had earned his place before the state’s high court. The 2005 graduate of Marquette University Law School said it was very gratifying when both the client and his firm’s partners put their trust in him to argue the case.

A father of three, Bardosy said his priorities are clear.

“I basically do two things,” he said. “I work hard, and I enjoy time with my family.”

What is the hardest part of your job?

The demands of the legal profession. To be an attorney requires a very strong personal commitment. Having a wife and three kids who support me, helps me make that commitment to the profession. But at the same time, that commitment can come at the expense of your family. So it’s important to find as much balance as you can, so it’s always clear why you’re doing what you’re doing.

What famous person you would most like to have a drink with?

I don’t drink, but if I did, it would have to be Adrian Peterson. I’m an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, which creates some challenges around the office. We’d have some Gatorade probably.

What is your most prized possession?

When I was a kid I always wanted a basketball hoop in my front yard. We actually just put one in at my house a few months ago, and every night I spend 45 minutes or an hour playing basketball with my son, who’s 6. I love every second of it. I’m not very good, but in his eyes I’m LeBron James.

What song is on heavy rotation on your iPod?

I’m a big Tom Petty fan. Probably my favorite is ‘Learning to Fly.’

What is your greatest extravagance?

Disney World. We go probably more than we should, but those are great vacations for us.

What is the first concert you went to?

I hate to admit it, but I think it was New Kids on the Block. Or maybe it was the Eagles.

What do you miss most about your childhood?

Now, after having three kids, it’s sleeping.
