Who’s Doing What: Attorneys on the rise; MBA names award-winners

Patricia Hutter

Patricia Hutter, a partner at Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee, was appointed to the Wisconsin Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth’s Board of Directors.

Hutter is a member of the firm’s corporate services practice group and serves as national chairman of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions team. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyout transactions, private equity investments and other business transactions, in addition to corporate matters. She earned her law degree from the University of Illinois.

Amanda Pirt of Hupy and Abraham SC, Milwaukee, was appointed to the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division to serve as 2013-14 vice chair to the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Committee. She graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2011. Pirt’s practice focuses on personal injury and torts work.

Thomas Shorter, a shareholder at Godfrey & Kahn SC, Milwaukee, recently became a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. To obtain fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

Shorter practices in the firm’s Madison office and is chair of the health care practice group. He provides counsel on health care, corporate, labor and employment, and regulatory matters. He earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law.

• The Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin elected the following officers: Emily Koss of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Dueren SC, president; Lisa Winkler of the Dane County Resource Center, vice president/president elect; Steven Weber of Quarles & Brady LLP, secretary; and Julie Baldwin of Northwestern Mutual, treasurer.

AWARDS & HONORS

Stuart Schroeder, CEO of The Schroeder Group SC, Attorneys at Law, received the Irving J. Seher Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. The award recognizes an alumnus who exemplifies the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs.

• The Milwaukee Bar Association announced its 2013 award-winners:

Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert Habush of Habush Habush & Rottier SC, Milwaukee;

Lawyer of the Year: Milwaukee Justice Center volunteer attorneys;

Distinguished Service Award: Judge Richard Sankovitz, Milwaukee County Circuit Court

E. Michael McCann Distinguished Public Service Award: Grant F. Langley, Milwaukee city attorney

• The Milwaukee Younger Lawyers Association elected the following officers: Brian Romans of Krawczyk, Duginski & Rohr SC, Brookfield, president; Jason Luczak of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP, Milwaukee, president-elect; Bryant Ferguson of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren, SC, Milwaukee, treasurer; and Steve McGaver of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP, Milwaukee, secretary.
