AWARDS & HONORS

The Dane County Bar Association presented three awards for outstanding pro bono work during a Law Day celebration May 1:

Foley & Lardner LLP received an award for the firm-wide support of pro bono work. The award highlighted the work of two outstanding attorneys at Foley & Lardner, Brian Potts and Eric Hatchell.

Law student Lia Ocasio was the recipient of the Law Student Award for her work with the University of Wisconsin Law School Pro Bono Program, working with the Community Immigration Law Center.

Madison attorney Margaret Maroney received an award for her pro bono work with the Community Immigration Law Center.

Anthony Baish, a shareholder at Godfrey & Kahn SC, Milwaukee, is the new president of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association. Baish has served on the board of directors since 2007 and has held various positions in the organization. Other members of the 2013-14 EDWBA Executive Committee include: Jonathan Koenig, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Milwaukee, president elect; Scott Hansen, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren SC, Milwaukee, vice president; Sandra Gegios, law clerk to Judge Rudolph T. Randa, secretary; and T. Wickham Schmidt, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry SC, Green Bay, treasurer.

YOU’RE HIRED

Patrick Cannon and Ralph Topinka joined von Briesen & Roper SC, Milwaukee.
Cannon joined the health law section and will be practicing out of the firm’s Milwaukee and Madison offices. Cannon, practicing out of the Milwaukee office, focuses on health law, billing and payment matters, and business transactions. He earned his law degree from Gonzaga University.

Topinka also joined the health law section and will be practicing out of the firm’s Madison office. He has more than 30 years of experience representing health care providers. He earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1980.

David Blinka joined Habush Habush & Rottier SC as an associate. He will be working in the firm’s Madison office. Blinka is a 2012 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School.
