MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Spending on television advertising in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race won by Justice Pat Roggensack topped $1 million.

The Brennan Center for Justice and Justice at Stake on Thursday released the tally compiled by a media research firm.

Nearly 70 percent of the money spent on ads came from conservative interest groups that backed Roggensack in the campaign against Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone.

The spending was far lower than the 2011 Supreme Court election when nearly $4 million went into television ads. But that race was cast by many as a referendum on Gov. Scott Walker’s collective bargaining proposal.

According to the report, Roggensack spent about $155,000 on ads and Fallone spent about $190,000. Outside groups for Roggensack spent about $770,000. No outside groups advertised for Fallone.
