MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Ed Fallone says he supports requiring justices to step aside in cases involving parties who had made political donations to members on the court.

Fallone said Thursday that if he wins the April 2 election against Justice Pat Roggensack he will work with others on the court to reverse a rule allowing the donations.

Roggensack was one of four justices who voted for the rule in 2009.

Fallone said in a statement the rules need to change to “keep special interest money out of the decisions of the court.”

Roggensack said she supported the rule because she was concerned that people who voted for justices could have their votes cancelled because of a donation given that would require the justice to step aside in a case.
