Panel seeks two bankruptcy judges

A federal judicial selection panel is seeking candidates for two bankruptcy judge positions in Wisconsin.

Judge James Shapiro Thomas, in the U.S. Eastern District Bankruptcy Court in Milwaukee, and Judge Thomas Utschig, in U.S. Western District Bankruptcy Court in Eau Claire, will retire at the end of this year.

The Judicial Council of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, based in Chicago, began accepting applications Jan. 3 for the positions.

The term of office is 14 years and the current salary is $160,080, according to a notice issued by the Council.

Applicants have until Feb. 22 and can APPLY HERE.

Utschig, 64, joined the Western District bankruptcy court bench in 1986, and Shapiro, 81, joined the Eastern District bench in 1982.
