Madison (AP) — A committee working to recall the state Senate’s Republican leader has raised a little more than $3,500 since mid-November.
Democrats and their allies are trying to gather enough signatures to force Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and three other GOP senators in recall elections next year. The Democrats want to oust the senators from office because they supported Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s contentious collective bargaining law.
Campaign finance reports show the Fitzgerald recall committee has raised $3,589 since Nov. 14. It has spent $1,637 and had $1,951 on hand as of Thursday.
Fitzgerald’s reports show the Juneau Republican has more than $280,000 in his campaign fund.
