MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Republicans bringing a lawsuit challenging when new legislative boundaries take effect are changing attorneys.

They had been represented by the law firm of Michael, Best and Friedrich, the same law firm that Republican lawmakers hired to help draw the new boundaries under the once-a-decade process of redistricting.

On Monday they switched to Brookfield attorney Michael Dean.

The lawsuit filed both in the state Supreme Court and in Waukesha County seeks to have the new boundaries take effect for elections immediately instead of in the fall as it was written. Republicans want the new GOP-friendly lines in effect for possible recall elections targeting four incumbents next year.

Republicans previously asked to withdraw the case from the Supreme Court but allow the other one in Waukesha County to proceed.
