The latest legal additions across Wisconsin


Marney Hoefer has joined Stafford Rosenbaum LLP as a senior associate. Hoefer’s practice focuses on environmental law and governmental affairs. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2000.

Jodi Jensen has joined the government relations team at Dewitt Ross & Stevens SC, Madison.  Prior to joining the firm, she served as a member of the Department of Administration’s executive staff. Jensen will focus on government relations, administrative law, and campaign finance and elections law. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Shana Lewis has joined the labor & employment law practice group at Davis & Kuelthau SC’s Madison office. Lewis practices school and municipal law in addition to labor and employment law. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Robert Lightfoot II has joined the health care practice group at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren SC as a shareholder. Lightfoot is based in Reinhart’s Madison office. He earned his law degree from Hamline University School of Law.

Kevin Trost has joined Axley Brynelson LLP to aid in the representation of financial institutions and insurers at the firm’s Madison office. Trost brings knowledge of commercial litigation, insolvency law, creditor’s rights, workouts, receiverships, and residential and commercial foreclosures.  He also handles the forfeiture of shares in cooperatives, land contracts and the foreclosure of vessels secured by first preferred ship’s mortgages. He received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Thomas Vance has joined Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren SC, Milwaukee, in the firm’s tax practice. Vance advises his clients on tax litigation, audit and planning matters. He earned his Master of Laws degree in taxation from New York University School of Law and his law degree, cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School.

Godfrey & Kahn SC, Milwaukee, announced the addition of eight new attorney associates to the firm’s corporate, labor and employment, litigation, securities, and tax and employee benefits practice groups.

Dustin Brown has joined the firm’s litigation practice group as a lateral associate in the Madison office. Brown earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from New York University.

Martina Gast has joined the firm’s labor and employment practice group in the firm’s Madison office. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Laura Hawkins has joined the firm’s securities practice group in the Milwaukee office. Hawkins earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School.

Travis Laird has joined the firm’s corporate practice group in the Milwaukee office. Laird earned his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School.

M. Scott LeBlanc has joined the firm’s labor and employment practice group in the Milwaukee office. LeBlanc earned his law degree, cum laude, from Duke University School of Law.

Daniel Narvey has joined the firm’s litigation practice group in the Milwaukee office. Narvey earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law.

Aaron Seligman has joined the firm’s litigation practice group in the Madison office. Seligman earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Timothy Smith has joined the firm’s tax and employee benefits practice group in the Milwaukee office. Smith earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as an articles editor for the Wisconsin Law Review.

On the move

Attorney William Jennaro is now an independent practitioner “Of Counsel” in affiliation with the firm of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP, Milwaukee. He will continue to provide full general practice and serve in mediation and arbitration matters of all kinds.

Awards & honors

The Greater Milwaukee Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals chose the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP to receive its 2011 Wisconsin Organizational Philanthropy. The firm was nominated by the Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation. The award recognizes a corporation, foundation or organization with an outstanding record of philanthropic leadership in the greater Milwaukee area.

Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC, Milwaukee, has announced the election of three shareholders: Thomas Gonzalez, Daniel Miske and Douglas Pessefall.

Gonzalez is a member of the litigation practice group, where he concentrates on transportation law, product liability, toxic torts and general negligence matters. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Miske is a member of the real estate practice group, where he focuses on condominium law, business law, business litigation and collections. He earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Pessefall is a member of the corporate practice group, where he heads the tax exempt organizations team. His practice also includes federal, state and local taxation, contested tax matters and general corporate law. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Patrick McNally, a shareholder and director at the Milwaukee office of Borgelt, Powell, Peterson & Frauen SC, has been named the 2011-12 lead state chairperson in Wisconsin for the Council on Litigation Management, a nonpartisan alliance of insurance companies, corporations, general counsel, risk managers, claims adjusters and attorneys.

McNally has been a Wisconsin state chairperson for CLM since 2009.

Kyle Flanagan of Ruder Ware LLSC, Wausau, has been named to the board of directors at the Wisconsin Alumni Association: Wausau Chapter. The nonprofit volunteer group works to generate scholarships for local students and provide area University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni with a connection to the university. Flanagan is a 2010 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Attorney John Fisher II, a health care attorney with Ruder Ware LLSC, Wausau, has obtained certification in health care compliance. Fisher will now carry the Certified Healthcare Compliance designation, provided by the Health Care Compliance Association.

Charles Stevens, a partner at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, Milwaukee, has been elected to the board of directors of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin. Stevens has more than 25 years of experience in employee benefits law. In addition to his new role, Stevens serves on the board of Bliffert Charitable Trust doing business as Blue Lotus Farm and Retreat Center and the Milwaukee County Council of Boy Scouts of America. He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1981.
