MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A Wisconsin appeals court has ruled against a 27-year-old Milwaukee man convicted for his alleged role in the group sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.

In a ruling released Tuesday, the court said Altonio Laroy Chaney is not entitled to have his 12-year prison sentence modified.

Chaney argued that a person who claimed to have seen him having oral sex with the young girl had since recanted.

However, the appeals court says the recantation isn’t a significant development because that person’s testimony hadn’t been a factor when the lower court handed down the sentence.

In 2006, Chaney was at a party where the 11-year-old girl performed sex acts on 18 or 19 men and boys. Fourteen people were convicted in the case.
