WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — An insanity plea has been entered in Waukesha County for a 17-year-old boy accused of killing his grandfather with an ax.

Richard Wilson of Fox Point is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of Ronald Siepmann. The 78-year-old real estate developer was found dead in a shed on his Beaver Lake property May 8.

Wilson waived his right to a preliminary hearing during a court appearance Monday. His attorney, Michael Steinle, entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

The Journal Sentinel says a competency exam was ordered and another court appearance was scheduled Nov. 17.
